Group Mission Statement
"The mission of the group is to help improve the quality of life of people who
have psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis.”
The group will serve as a place for people with psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis to meet
regularly for support in living with their disease. The group will afford individuals an opportunity
for:
Confidential, non-judgmental interaction with others who know
what it is like to have psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis.
Understanding and assurance from others that they are not
alone in their experiences.
Hope that it is possible to take control of their situation
through education and support.
Information, speakers and literature about psoriasis and
psoriatic arthritis and other related topics.
Forming new relationships for support outside of the group.
Volunteer group members will actively engage in activities to educate our community about
psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Special emphasis will be focused on outreach efforts within
the medical and educational communities. The purpose of such efforts will be to raise
awareness within the community for both our local support group and the National Psoriasis
Foundation. The goal will be to make sure that psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis patients are
cognizant of existing support mechanisms to help them manage their disease.
The group considers such activities essential in the hope that someday a cure will be
discovered. The more awareness this group and other similar groups can create will serve to
encourage expanded sources of funding for medical research. Such research is vital to
providing additional treatment options and a potential cure.
